Make a Difference in Morocco

The efforts of volunteers create an amazing wind in the HAF sail. The research, writing, observations, communications, and documentation that are achieved by volunteers helps HAF’s community programs in agriculture, cultural preservation, women’s and youth empowerment, and capacity-building in technical and managerial areas. All volunteers are welcome because all can find their place of service. Each community’s needs are varied and so are the skills we need.

There are multiple opportunities throughout the year to volunteer and lengths of volunteer service vary from one day to several months. Some volunteers work with us over several years. We honor every length and type of volunteer service.

There are three steps to becoming a volunteer:

  1. Contact our Volunteer Coordinator, and send her your resume.

  2. Sit for an interview and answer a few questions related to your educational background, skills, and experiences.

  3. After a suitable supervisor is determined, you will be introduced so you can start your volunteering experience with us. During that time, Kaoutar follows up on your progress so that you can work efficiently on your weekly assignments.

“We all have the ability to improve someone else’s life every day. In Fes, I had the amazing opportunity to support HAF’s Legal Clinic in Fes –the Clinique Juridique de la Faculté de Droit (CIFD) – by drafting a grant proposal for a new project in Oujda and supporting PHD Students and Clinic Volunteers from the Legal Clinic at Université Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah in Fes with understanding the fundamentals of proposal writing and reporting. After getting a chance to watch these students in action, I have no doubt these students are ready to make their communities a better place.”

“A recent vacation in Morocco included an unexpected but wonderful opportunity to participate in a human-rights training at the Universite Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah in Fes on June 1, 2023. We were touched by the generous welcome extended by the faculty and students and impressed with the level of education, passion, and commitment demonstrated by all who were teaching and taking the training session! We are extremely grateful for this enriching opportunity and encourage all to commit to supporting the High Atlas Foundation!”

“On Monday, January 17th, I had the honor to come and participate in an exceptional work with the High Atlas Foundation. It was actually my first time doing tree-planting activities and giving students awareness of the benefits of tree planting. We started with a primary school in Marrakech called Al Mokef, an old school with four decades of history. I really enjoyed my volunteering with the High Atlas Foundation, and I can’t wait to do it again.”

“Recently, I volunteered with a dental health awareness event at the schools of Bouchane. Seventeen American dentists traveled with us to rural Morocco to improve oral health and hygiene practices. On the third and final day in Bouchane, I assisted the dentists in the operating rooms, holding the children’s hands to keep them calm and prevent mishaps while they had their teeth extracted. It was an interesting, fun, and meaningful week.”
